Amherst woman charged in Orland theft case

ELLSWORTH — The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office has arrested an Amherst woman in connection with a burglary and theft investigation that began late last year at a business and residence in Orland, police announced Friday.

Detective Frank Jennings said deputies executed a search warrant and served an arrest warrant at an Amherst residence on Feb. 26.

As a result, police charged Adriana M. West, 43, with three counts of theft and two counts of misuse of identification. The amount of the theft is $1,400, Jennings said.

“Evidence was seized during the warrant search, which will further the investigation and likely result in additional charges,” Jennings said. “Additional and/or enhanced charges are anticipated once the investigation is complete.”

West is free on bail.
