ELLSWORTH — Ellsworth High School senior Logan Lord earned a place in wrestling team lore last Thursday when he earned his 100th career win at Foxcroft Academy.
The feat came when Lord won via decision against Foxcroft’s Jacob Diamond in the 145-pound bout. The Eagles were competing in a dual meet against Foxcroft, Bucksport and Calais.
The benchmark was yet another in a long list of achievements for Lord, who has been a consistent winner for Ellsworth in a variety of different weight classes. He was the Northern Maine champion as a freshman in the 126-pound class in 2016 and won another regional title as a sophomore in the 138-pound division. In the state championships that year, he was runner-up in the 145-pound bracket.
Ellsworth and Bucksport also attended a 23-team tournament Saturday at Mountain Valley High School in Rumford. The Golden Bucks placed sixth with 47 points, and the Eagles took 12th with 25.
Individually, the Golden Bucks had an excellent day in Rumford with Travis Hutchinson winning the 120-pound title, Hunter Robichaud finishing third at 170 pounds and Alex Burbank claiming fourth at 113 pounds. Mount Ararat/Brunswick edged Wells to win the tournament.
Bucksport is scheduled to hold its second home meet of the year at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, and Ellsworth will be competing at Piscataquis Community High School in Guilford at that same time and date. Both teams will travel to Caribou to compete in a 12-team tournament that will begin at noon next Saturday, Dec. 22.
