LEWISTON — The Mount Desert Island High School volleyball team walked away from the Maine Games 2010 Bruce Churchill Classic volleyball tournament with the silver medal on Saturday, and now resumes the regular season with some big game experience that head coach Todd Brophy hopes will help them as the work their way toward the post season.
The first game at the tournament was against long-time rival Greely, and the Trojans won. “It was nice that we beat somebody we haven’t beaten in a long time,” said Coach Brophy. “Then we went undefeated until the last game of the day against Falmouth.”
The junior varsity team also went undefeated until the final competition where they too, fell to Falmouth for the silver.
