MDI JV volleyball learns strategy

BAR HARBOR — Coach Kirk Ritter set big goals for the Mount Desert Island High School JV volleyball team this year. He was very pleased with their progress.

The team finished with an 8-4 record. At the end of season JV tournament, MDI was seeded 6th of twelve teams. They lost in the first playoff round to Greely, after beating that team in a regular season match.

Of the team’s ten freshmen, half had played in a Junior Olympic (JO) volleyball program. Half had never played.

The team included junior Elise Robertson, sophomores Brittany Corson, Delia Hallett, and Lindsey Wilson, and freshmen Alaina Duley, Emma Forthofer, Grace Higgins, Jessica Dominy, Madalyn Shields, Mariah Hamor, Marley Chamberlain, Mikaela Conley, Samantha Sandler, and Valerie Del Cid. Natasha Olearcic served as manager.
