Lady Bucks Advance to State Title Game



BUCKSPORT — The top-ranked Bucksport Golden Bucks played their way into the Class B state championship volleyball final on Saturday, with a 3-1 win over the fourth-ranked Washington Academy Raiders.

The 12-3 Golden Bucks posted an easy 25-11 victory in the first game, but the Raiders rallied for a 29-27 win in the second contest.

At that point, Bucksport regrouped and reeled off decisive 25-18 and 25-11 wins to clinch the semifinal.

For the Golden Bucks, Victoria Grindle had 3 aces, 21 digs, 5 assists and a kill; Lisa Tapley had 8 kills; Jen Wight had 18 digs, 3 aces and 2 kills; Ingrid Dovland had 14 digs, 4 aces, 4 assists and 2 kills; and Madison Porter had 7 digs and 6 assists.

Bucksport is slated to face number three Yarmouth (12-4) in Saturday’s championship final to be played at Washington Academy in East Machias.
