Ellsworth volleyball tops Bucksport



ELLSWORTH — The Ellsworth volleyball team moved into a playoff position Monday with a 3-0 win over visiting Bucksport.

The Eagles won the game 25-8. 25-16, 25-20 with Mariah Young and Shelby Cote leading the way. Young was 12 of 12 serving with four aces and five kills, and Cote was 19 of 20 serving with nine aces. Brittney DeWitt led Bucksport with three aces and six digs.

Ellsworth, which is now in eighth place, plays its next game at home against Mount Desert Island (4-1) at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20. The Eagles also face Sumner (0-4) on the road at that time Sept. 26.

Bucksport is away against Lee Academy (1-3) at 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21.
