ELLSWORTH — The Ellsworth volleyball team lost to the Woodland Dragons in four sets Saturday by scores of 10-25, 25-15, 22-25 and 23-25 in Saturday’s Class B quarterfinals.
After Ellsworth, the No. 4 seed, lost the first set in decisive fashion and started the second with a 6-2 deficit, the Eagles won eight straight points and went on to tie the match at one set apiece. No. 5 seed Woodland, though, held off Ellsworth runs in both the third and fourth sets to record the win.
Ellsworth (9-6) finishes with its best record since 2013. Woodland (10-4) will face No. 1 seed Calais (14-1) on Wednesday, Oct. 26.
