MDI, Bucksport, GSA athletes selected to All-PVC outdoor track teams



BAR HARBOR — Athletes from Mount Desert Island, Bucksport and George Stevens Academy were selected Monday to this year’s All-Penobscot Valley Conference outdoor track teams.

For MDI, senior Gilbert Isaacs was chosen as the Large-School division’s first-team shot put selection after winning Hancock County, PVC and state titles in the event. Marilyn Sawyer added first-team (100-meter dash) and second-team (200-meter dash and 300-meter hurdles) selections, and Zoe Olson was a second-team pick in the 800- and 1,600-meter runs.

Bucksport’s Carter Tolmasoff (boys’ 100- and 200-meter dashes) and Angelina Cotoni (girls’ 100-meter hurdles) were first-team selections in the Small-School division. Gavin Billings made the second team in the shot put after finishing third at PVCs and ninth at states.

GSA’s LeeAnn Varnum was the first-team Small-School selection in the shot put after her first-place finish in last Saturday’s Class C championships in Farmington. Grace Broughton (girls’ 300-meter hurdles), Ian Howell (1,600-meter race walk) and Ian Renwick (long jump) earned second-team honors for the Eagles.
