ELLSWORTH — Hancock County athletes have claimed numerous spots on this year’s All-Penobscot Valley Conference track teams.
Three Mount Desert Island boys highlighted the All-PVC Class B first team with Miles Burr (100- and 200-meter dashes), Archer Hill (shot put, discus) and Walker St. Germain (400-meter run) claiming top honors. Bella Brown (discus) and Grace Munger (800-meter run) were chosen to the first team for the MDI girls.
Addi Laslie was named an All-PVC Class B second-team selection for the Ellsworth girls, and the Ellsworth boys’ team’s Henry Scheff was chosen in the 110-meter hurdles. Baylor Landsman (300-meter hurdles), Jackson Laws (javelin) and Henry Lester (long jump) were second-teamers for the MDI boys, and Callan Eason (200- and 400-meter dashes) and Olivia Joyce (javelin) made the second team for the MDI girls.
In Class C, Bucksport’s Johanna Stiles (100- and 200-meter dashes), Ava Knowles (shot put), Addie Morrison (400-meter dash) and Victoria Watkins (high jump) were named first-team selections. Grace Broughton and (300-meter hurdles) and Maranda Pert (discus throw) were first-team girls’ selections for George Stevens Academy.
Gavin Billings (shot put, javelin), William Hileman (1,600- and 3,200-meter runs) and Nathan Paulauskas (high jump) were first-team selections for the Bucksport boys. GSA’s Andrew Hipsky (300-meter hurdles), Franklin Sealander (110-meter hurdles) and Oliver Wilson (1,600-meter race walk) and Sumner’s Logan Carter (800-meter run) rounded out the list of Hancock County Class C first-team selections.
Bucksport’s Watkins (100-meter hurdles) and Helaina Winslow (long jump, vault) and GSA’s Pert (shot put), Thea Crowley (800-meter run) and Kathleen Stephens (high jump) were girls’ second-teamers. Bucksport’s Billings (discus), Colin Simpson (long, triple jumps) and Hugh Jack (100-meter dash), GSA’s Hipsky (110-meter hurdles), Sealander (300-meter hurdles) and Clark Morrison (3,200-meter run) and Sumner’s William Colson (400-meter dash) were second-team boys’ picks.
