Three county tennis teams bid for Eastern Maine titles

ORONO — The Ellsworth Eagle girls and the Mount Desert Island Trojan and George Stevens Academy Eagle boys were scheduled to play yesterday (Wednesday) for Eastern Maine tennis championships.

The top-ranked 13-1 Ellsworth girls advanced to a Class B final with wins last week over the Oceanside Mariners and the Caribou Vikings.

The MDI boys downed the Presque Isle Wildcats and John Bapst Crusaders en route to their Class B final.

GSA’s second-ranked 12-2 Eagles dispatched the Calais Blue Devils and the Fort Kent Warriors, earning the right to compete for the 10th Eastern Maine title in 12 years.
