Ellsworth tennis teams defeat Old Town, Bangor



BANGOR — The Ellsworth boys’ and girls’ tennis teams claimed wins in their most recent matches with road triumphs over Old Town and Bangor.

On Wednesday, both Ellsworth teams claimed 3-2 victories at Old Town High School. The Ellsworth girls got singles wins courtesy of Sierra Andrews (8-1) and Megan Jordan (8-2) and a doubles win from Briana Kane and Kahlan Keene (9-8), and the boys got a singles win from Tate Carter and doubles wins from Kai and Koa Barrett (8-2) and Dallas Flood and Everett Huckins (8-5).

The Ellsworth girls (5-0) stayed undefeated with a 4-1 victory in Tuesday’s match against Bangor. The Eagles got singles win from Andrews (8-5), Jordan (8-1), Kane and Keene (8-4) and a doubles win from Jocelyn Boudreau and Grace Gumpp (8-2).

Ellsworth also prevailed over Bangor by a score of 4-1 on the boys’ side. The Eagles got wins from Carter (8-3) and Ben Osterlin (8-5) in singles play, and victories from Kai and Koa Barrett (8-1) and Flood and Huckins (8-2) gave the visitors a sweep of doubles play.

The Ellsworth boys will play on the road against Belfast at 4:15 p.m. Thursday, May 6, with the girls’ team set to follow at that time Friday, May 7. Both Ellsworth teams will then play on the road against Hermon at 4 p.m. Monday, May 10, before hosting rematches against Old Town at that time next Wednesday, May 12.
