BANGOR — The Ellsworth swim team made it five sweeps on the season with two victories in its latest meet.
The Ellsworth girls stayed undefeated on the season with a 99-59 win over John Bapst on Friday at the Bangor Area YMCA. In the boys’ meet, the Eagles bounced back from a close loss a week ago with a 97-42 victory over the host Crusaders.
On the girls’ side, Ellsworth began the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay (Kristy Barry, Caroline Mazgaj, Ella Montgomery, Kiera Springer, 1 minute, 56.52 seconds). The Eagles also won the 400-yard freestyle relay as the same four swimmers posted a time of 4:40.22.
Barry (50-yard freestyle, 25.99; 100-yard butterfly, 1:03.16), Mazgaj (500-yard freestyle, 5:48.95) posted individual wins along with their relay successes. Kaela Springer (1-meter dive, 197.85), Ellie Anderson (200-yard individual medley, 1:01.78) and Jordan Berry (100-yard breaststroke, 1:26.56) also earned event wins for Ellsworth.
The Ellsworth boys’ team won the 200 medley relay as Owen Frank, Nick Partridge, Lucas Fendl and Andy Erlanson posted a time of 1:49.98. The Eagles won the 200 freestyle relay (Felix Markosian, Darren Easler, Noah DiDonato, Kobe Swett, 1:54.69) and 400 freestyle relay (Partridge, Frank, Erlanson, Fendl, 3:50.26) unopposed.
Partridge posted two individual wins for the Ellsworth boys with first-place efforts in the 200 IM (2:10.54) and 100 freestyle (53.53). Swett (50 freestyle, 26.91) and Markosian (100 breaststroke, 1:13.09) rounded out the list of winners for the Eagles.
Ellsworth will compete in its penultimate regular season meet when it faces Mount Desert Island at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, at MDI YMCA. The Eagles will then close out the regular season against Brewer at that time Feb. 4 at DEFY.
