DEFY Dolphins set new records in New Brunswick

ELLSWORTH — Members of the Down East Family YMCA Dolphins set numerous state and team records over the weekend at the Maine Swimming Invitational in Saint John, N.B.

At the state level, Nick Partridge set 50- and 100-meter breaststroke records in the boys’ 13-14 age group with times of 32.77 seconds and 1 minute, 9.21 seconds, respectively. In the open men’s group, Talor Hamilton set a state record of his own the 50-meter butterfly with a time of 25.69 seconds.

In addition to their state records, Partridge (50-meter freestyle and 50-, 100-meter and 200-meter breaststrokes) and Hamilton (100 butterfly) also set all-time team bests. Other boys to set team records were Camden Holmes (50- and 100-meter freestyles), Sean Hill (400-meter freestyle) and Sam Pelletier (200-meter breaststroke).

On the girls’ side, Ella Montgomery set team records in the 11-12 50- and 100-meter backstrokes, 50- and 100-meter butterflies and 200-meter individual medley. DEFY set a new relay mark in the 15-18 200-meter freestyle relay as well as in the 13-14 400-meter freestyle relay and 400-meter medley relay.
