SULLIVAN — On Thursday, Tashia Daley fired a pitching gem, giving up just two hits and striking out 14 batters in a 6-1 quarterfinal win over the Penobscot Valley Howlers.

SULLIVAN — On Thursday, Tashia Daley fired a pitching gem, giving up just two hits and striking out 14 batters in a 6-1 quarterfinal win over the Penobscot Valley Howlers.
The Howlers scored their lone run in the third inning without benefit of a hit.
Sumner got a run in the first as Lona Sargent singled and came around to score, and another on a solo home run by Angela Leach in the fourth inning.
The Tigers tacked on four more in the sixth on a triple by Leach, singles by Maria Lockhart and Sarah Leighton, an RBI triple by Sargent, an RBI single by Daley and a single by Ashley Pennartz.
The sixth-ranked Howlers closed out their season with a record of 13-5.
