Lady Eagles Shutout Red Riots

BLUE HILL — Senior righthander Lydia Clapp had one of her finest outings of the season, pitching a one-hit shutout in GSA’s quarterfinal win over the Orono Red Riots on Thursday.

Clapp yielded a sixth-inning single to Elizabeth Fox, walked just two batters and struck out seven as the second-seeded Eagles edged the seventh-ranked Red Riots 1-0.

GSA’s only run came in the bottom of the sixth inning when Anna Clapp scored from third on a ground out by Stephi Davis.

GSA managed just two hits against Orono’s Andi Foster, who also went the distance in the pitcher’s circle, striking out nine in the loss.

Stevie Theoharidis and Davis had singles for the Eagles.
