GSA Ranked Second, Sumner Third

The unbeaten Calais Blue Devils have slipped past the George Stevens Academy Eagles and the Sumner Tigers and into first place in the Eastern Maine Class C softball standings.

Second-ranked GSA improved to 12-3 on Monday with an 8-0 win over the Mount Desert Island Trojans, and the Tigers upped their record to 13-2 with a 7-3 win over the Ellsworth Eagles on Monday and a 5-3 win over Searsport Tuesday.

In the Class B rankings, the 11-5 Bucksport Golden Bucks are in fourth place and the 5-11 Trojans are 11th, with 3-13 Ellsworth out of the playoff picture in 18th place.

In Class D, the 7-8 Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners have made a late bid for playoff status with a doubleheader win over Schenck on Saturday and a victory over Searsport on Monday.

The Mariners currently hold the 12th and last playoff spot in the standings.
