ELL 9-10 softball team beats Glenburn in 2nd state tournament game

ELLSWORTH — The Ellsworth Little League 9-10 All-Star team defeated Glenburn Little League 8-2 in an elimination game Sunday to stay alive in state tournament play.

Camryn Clough struck out 12 batters for Ellsworth in the circle and had two hits at the plate. Ellsworth also got big hitting performances from Elizabeth Boles (3 for 3 with a triple) and Sydney Mason (2 for 2 with a home run).

The win came a day after Ellsworth suffered a 3-0 defeat to Westbrook Little League. Kaylee Bagley struck out eight batters for Ellsworth in the loss, and Lizzie Boles doubled at the plate for the team’s only hit.

Ellsworth faced off against tournament host Biddeford Little League on Monday, but the game was suspended in the top of the second inning with Biddeford leading 2-1. The two teams will resume play tomorrow, July 23.
