DI-Stonington, GSA Are Ranked Second



ELLSWORTH — The once-beaten Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners, with five wins under their belts, have climbed to second place in the Eastern Maine Class D softball standings, trailing top-ranked Limestone by less than three points.

ELLSWORTH — The once-beaten Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners, with five wins under their belts, have climbed to second place in the Eastern Maine Class D softball standings, trailing top-ranked Limestone by less than three points.

With pointworthy wins over the Mariners on Monday and the Washington Academy Raiders on Tuesday, the 6-2 George Stevens Academy Eagles are now in second place, trailing only the top-ranked Central Red Devils, in the Class C ranks.

The 3-5 Sumner Tigers are sixth in Class C.

And in Class B, the 4-3 Bucksport Golden Bucks are fifth and the 3-4 Ellsworth Eagles are eighth, with the 1-6 Mount Desert Island Trojans 16th among the 19 teams in the division.
