UMFK Sinks Lady Mariners

CASTINE — The Maine Maritime Academy Lady Mariner soccer team fell to the University of Maine at Fort Kent 4-0 in a non-conference match-up at Ritchie Field on Sunday afternoon. Junior striker Whitney Sinclair (Dexter) scored at hat trick for the Bengals in the victory.

The Bengals struck early in the match, scoring in the 2nd minute on a goal from Whitney Sinclair. Donike Ferriera (Montego Bay, Jamaica) assisted on the goal. UMFK added their second tally of the match in the 39th minute on Whitney Sinclair’s second goal of the half giving the Bengals the 2-0 lead.

Sinclair notched her third consecutive goal of the match in the 54th minute when she received a lofted pass from Victoria Dubois-Iredale (Blainville, Quebec) and proceeded to tuck the ball past the keeper into the lower right corner of the net. The Bengals tacked on another goal in the 83rd minute on an own goal to complete the scoring at 4-0.

Lacey Jackson (York, PA) took the loss for MMA and falls to 1-2-1 on the year while Mindy Morneault (Eagle Lake) got the win for the Bengals. UMFK improves to 4-1 on the year.
