A first-half shot by Sid St. Peter that bounced off the crossbar was as close as the Eagles would come to scoring in a double-overtime 0-0 tie against the Hermon Hawks on Thursday in Hermon.
The Eagles outshot the Hawks 11-3 but were mostly unable to penetrate Hermon’s defense.
Ellsworth goalkeeper Steven Mahon had three saves for the game, posting his third shutout in four games.
The only goal allowed by the Eagles so far came on a penalty kick in their season opener against Presque Isle.
Hermon goalkeeper Hunter Clukey made 10 stops.
