Cohen Downs Lady Falcons

BANGOR — In soccer action on Friday, the Ellsworth Elementary-Middle School varsity girls traveled to Bangor and ended their 3 game unbeaten streak in a 3-1 loss to the Cohen School Eagles.

In a close fought match Katie Curtis led the Ellsworth offense. A Curtis blast was stopped, point blank, in the opening minutes before Cohen went ahead 1-0. Curtis later tied the score, early in the 2nd half, on a penalty shot before Cohen pulled ahead for good with about 10 minutes remaining.

In an exciting finish, Sasha Rydlinsky led a final drive up the sideline, but fell just short of tickling the goal twine, as many fans and rivals watched the ball careen off the goal post in the closing minutes of the game.

The Falcons girls look to get back on track Tuesday vs. Reeds Brooke in Hampden.
