ELLSWORTH — For the fifth time since the turn of the century, the Ellsworth Eagle boys have completed an undefeated regular soccer season.

The Eagles, who hold first place in the Eastern Maine Class B standings, improved their record to 13-0-1 on Tuesday night with a 3-0 win over the Mount Desert Island Trojans at Del Luce Stadium.

Ellsworth will receive a first-round bye in the post-season playoffs and likely will host the winner of a preliminary playoff between the number eight Waterville Purple Panthers (8-4-2) and number nine Caribou Vikings (6-7-1) on Wednesday, Oct. 30.

MDI finished the season with a 2-9-3 record and will not make the playoffs.

In addition to Ellsworth, three other Hancock County boys’ teams appear playoff-bound.

In Class C, the 11-2-1 George Stevens Academy Eagles are ranked fifth and the 5-7-2 Sumner Tigers are 11th, and in Class D, the 4-10-0 Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners are ranked 13th.
