FILE PHOTO Tour du Lac 10-Mile Road Race set for Saturday June 27, 2018 on Running/Cycling, Sports BUCKSPORT — This year’s running of the Tour du Lac 10-Mile Road Race is scheduled to be held Saturday, June 30, in Bucksport. The entry fee for the race, which is set to begin at 7:30 a.m., is $20, and a free T-shirt will be given to the first 50 entrants. Race-day registration can be done beginning at 6:30 a.m. at Bucksport’s municipal swimming pool. After starting at the pool, the race’s course leads runners onto Millvale Road and Charlie Cole Road before circling 682-acre Silver Lake. It then takes runners to School Street, Central Street and Broadway before finishing back at its original starting point. This year marks the 43rd edition of the race, which is one of the state’s oldest and most competitive. It drew 75 people last year, 84 in 2016 and 86 in 2015. Erik McCarthy of Old Town was the male winner last year with a finishing time of 53 minutes, 51 seconds. Tracy Guerrette of Bangor was the female winner with a time of 1:03.22. Louie Luchini of Ellsworth holds the all-time male record in the race with a time of 50:20 set in 2011, and Cassie Hintz of Old Town owns the women’s record with a time of 59:06 set in 2006. A cash prize of $100 will be awarded to any competitor who can break either record. Homemade jam will be given to the top three male and female finishers in each age group. Age groupings are 18-and-under, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79 and 80-plus.
