Nearly 200 runners compete in annual BHMH 5K race

Upward of 200 runners break from the fi nish line at the start of Saturday’s sixth annual Blue Hill Memorial Hospital fi ve-kilometer road race. Th e event was preceded by a onemile family fun run. Proceeds from the event help support the hospital’s wellness and community outreach programs.

BLUE HILL — More than 200 walkers and runners registered for Saturday’s sixth annual Blue Hill Memorial Hospital five-kilometer road race or one-mile family fun run.

Mitchell Silver of Fort Washington, Pa. took top honors in the competition, finishing the 5K course out the Parker Point Road and back in 16 minutes and 57 seconds.

Runner-up was Matt Homich of Ellsworth with a time of 17:24.

Both ran in the 20-29 age group.

Katie Schmitt of Durham, N.H., running in the 13-19 age group, was the first female finisher, placing 16th overall in 21:04.

In that same age group, Alice Dillon of Blue Hill was the female runner-up, placing 21st overall in 21:54.

Other age group winners:

Boys ages 12 and under – Nyamh Wolf in 26:21.

Girls ages 12 and under – Mary Richardson in 26-18.

Boys ages 13-19 – Noah Eley, sixth overall in 19:19.

Men ages 30-39 – Zac Gilhooley, 26th overall  in 22:26.

Women ages 30-39 – T. Lepper in 27:28.

Men ages 40-49 – Keith Schmitt, third overall in 18:13.

Women ages 40-49 – Michele Gagnon of Ellsworth, 29th overall in 23:01.

Men ages 50-59 – Tom Kirby of Ellsworth, 27th overall in 22:30.

Women ages 50-59 – Elizabeth Parson, 25th overall in 22:25.

Men ages 60-69 – Bill Hansen in 26:12.

Women ages 60-69 – Isabel Karl in 28:25.
