Half Marathon Set for Saturday

BAR HARBOR —The MDI YMCA’s USATF-certified half marathon is the only race of its kind held in a national park.

The 32nd Annual Half Marathon and Fall 5K is slated for Saturday, Sept. 19. Walkers start time is 7:30 a.m. and runners start time is 8:30 a.m. The race starts on lower Main Street, cuts through downtown and out West Street.

Nine miles of the course wind through Acadia National Park’s carriage road system – a unique national treasure that is considered the best example of broken stone roads in America. The car-free roads provide an excellent surface for runners and walkers alike.
