Ben Shorey Places Third at Nationals

EUGENE, Ore. — Ben Shorey, who became a champion racewalker at Ellsworth High School, recently placed third in the men’s 20-kilometer racewalk at the U.S. National Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Shorey finished in 1 hour, 27 minutes and 17 seconds, a time fast enough to qualify for the world championships.

Shorey won Eastern Maine and state racewalk titles at Ellsworth and twice won U.S. junior national championships.

Shorey went on to compete for the University of Wisconsin – Parkside after graduating from EHS.
