High school golf roundup



ELLSWORTH —  The Mount Desert Island Trojans and the Bucksport Golden Bucks are well on their way to solid seasons in high school golf.

The Class B Trojans have strung together eight wins and have yet to lose, while the Class C Golden Bucks have stroked their way to a 6-2 record thus far.

The coed Bucksport golfers posted a 191-207 win over Hermon at the Hermon Meadows Golf Course.

Sydnie Howard, on her way to a standout season in a field of few Eastern Maine girls, led the way for the Bucks with a 44, followed by Jordan Wadleigh 48, James McAllian 49 and Brandon Kelley 50.

In a four-team match at the Katahdin Country Club, the winless Ellsworth Eagles finished second behind Old Town while notching a win over Penquis Valley on Wednesday, Sept. 10.

In the team competition, it was Old Town with a score of 170, Ellsworth with 223, Penquis Valley with 225 and Orono no score.

For the Eagles, Bryce Scott shot a 48, followed by Devon McDevitt 49, Jacob Lewis 62 and Jon Jackson 90.

The MDI Trojans rolled to an easy 179-227 win over the Hermon Hawks on Saturday at the Kebo Valley Golf Course in Bar Harbor.

For the Trojans, Nick Lewis earned medalist honors with a six-over-par round of 41.

He was followed by Kyle Lamson 44, Riley Swanson 46, Aaron Snurkowski and Luke Mitchell 48 and Jordan Hodgdon 49.

Sydnie Howard again led the way with a round of 41 as the Golden Bucks saw their record move to 6-2 with a win over Hermon and a loss to Old Town in a three-way battle on Monday at the Hidden Meadows Golf Course.

Old Town prevailed with a score of 162, followed by Bucksport at 186 and Hermon 204.

Behind Howard for the Bucks were James McAllian 45, Brandon Kelley 49, Noah Lenor 51, Jordan Wadleigh 56, Ian Bernier 62 and Riley McLeod 70.
