High school golf roundup

ELLSWORTH — The George Stevens Academy Eagles and Mount Desert Island Trojans turned in third place finishes in last week’s Penobscot Valley Conference team golf championships at Jato Highlands Golf Course in Lincoln.

In Class B, the Caribou Vikings took top honors with a score of 352. Following were Old Town 359, MDI 374, Foxcroft Academy 377, Hermon 394, John Bapst 404, and Ellsworth, Presque Isle and Washington Academy with no team scores.

For MDI, Kyle Lamson led the way with an 86, followed by Jordan Hodgdon 87, Aaron Snurkowski 97, Riley Swanson 104 and Jake Boumil 116.

Lamson was fifth and Hodgdon sixth among individual Class B golfers.

For Ellsworth, it was Bryce Scott with 114, Devon McDevitt with 118 and Trevor Varney with 150.

In Class C, the Mattanawcook Academy Lynx won with a score of 344. Following were Houlton 346, GSA 405, Penobscot Valley 405, Calais 417, Bucksport 422, Orono 426, Searsport 437, Dexter 438, Penquis 480 and Piscataquis with no team score.

For GSA, C.J. Chen led with an 88 to finish sixth among individual golfers in Class C. Behind him were David Reinke 100, Joe Maier 104, Tyler McKenney 113 and Dakota Chipman 117.

For Bucksport, Sydney Howard and Noah Lenor led with 102, followed by Jordan Wadleigh 103, Brandon Kelley 106 and James McAllian 111.

Howard placed ninth among individual girl golfers.
