GSA holds Duane B. Gray Memorial Golf Tournament



BLUE HILL — George Stevens Academy alumni, students, parents, administrators and friends participated in the Duane B. Gray Memorial Golf Tournament on Sunday at Blue Hill Country Club.

This year’s event offered both morning and afternoon championships, and both sessions drew ample competitors. The morning title went to Erik Fitch, Eric Hutchins, Chris Pickering and Ryan Welch, and the afternoon title went to John Bakeman II, Dave DeHares, Nick DeHares and Rick Littlefield.

In the long-drive contest, Simeon Allen (No. 2) and Ben Wootten (No. 8) won the men’s morning competition, and Libby Rosemeier (No. 2) and Bonnie Paulas (No. 7) were the women’s morning winners. Ebb Walton and Julie Cluett had the longest afternoon drives on hole No. 2, and Mikey Bannister had the longest on No. 7.

The annual tournament honors Duane B. Gray, who graduated from GSA in 1964 and was a passionate golfer and pharmacist in the Blue Hill area. A record 68 businesses made contributions with proceeds from the tournament going toward the school’s annual fund.
