BAR HARBOR — Both men’s and women’s leagues played rounds to benefit cancer research at Kebo Valley Golf Club last week.

The tournament, Tee Off for Teal, is in its fifth year. Proceeds go to the Geertruida (Cookie) Willems/Jackson Laboratory Cancer Research Fund.

“Five years ago two amazing women in my life, Rita Johnston and Cookie Willems, were fighting ovarian cancer,” said organizer Jacqueline Fitzpatrick in a statement.

Fitzpatrick started the golf tournament to raise awareness of the disease.

She estimated that this year’s event raised $1,500.
