BLUE HILL — George Stevens Academy will host the sixth annual Duane B. Gray Memorial Golf Tournament next Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Blue Hill Country Club.
Parents, students alumni and friends of the school will take to the golf course in pairs of four throughout the day to help raise money for the school’s annual fund and to pay tribute to Duane B. Gray. Gray, GSA’s 1964 class valedictorian, passed away in 2012.
To pay tribute to Gray, who worked as a pharmacist in the Blue Hill community for many years, Community Pharmacy will sponsor the event once again this year. Other tournament supporters include hole-in-one sponsors Stanley Scooters and Darling’s, numerous local businesses sponsoring various holes and contributing a variety of prizes and services, loyal golfers, friends of the Gray family and a group of dedicated volunteers.
Rob Clapp, Mark Clapp, Homer Lowell and and Ebb Walton won the morning title at year’s tournament with a gross score of 51. John Richardson, David Taylor, Ed Volkwein and Percy Zentz combined for a gross score of 53 to be crowned afternoon champions.
