Lynx Batter Bucks

BUCKSPORT — The Mattanawcook Academy Lynx upped their record to 5-2 with a 26-7 win over the Golden Bucks on Friday.

The contest was a grind-it-out affair as Mattanawcook rushed for 184 yards on 41 plays while holding Bucksport to 100 yards rushing and 54 passing.

All four of the Lynx touchdowns came on runs of one yard, three of them by Ethan White and another by Greg Hand.

Mattanawcook jumped in front 6-0 in the first period and added 14 more points in the second quarter and six in the final stanza.

Bucksport didn’t get on the scoreboard until the fourth period when Vinny Tymoczko connected on a 16-yard scoring pass to Isaac Redman and Donald Osthoff kicked the extra point.

Alex Giosia led the Golden Bucks with 84 yards rushing on 16 carries.

White finished with 98 yards on 22 carries for Mattanawcook.

Bucksport will close out the regular season at Orono against the host Red Riots Friday at 7 p.m.
