Chadbourne Named Preseason All-American

CASTINE — Maine Maritime Academy linebacker, Joel Chadbourne (Westbrook), was named to the 2011 Consensus Draft Services (CDS) Division III Preseason All-American Team when it was announced on Monday.

Chadbourne piled up 116 tackles in 2010, including 70 solo stops and nine for losses of 14 yards. He forced a pair of fumbles and broke up a pair of passes as well. The rising junior posted double digits in the tackles column in eight of the Mariners’ 11 contests last year. He was named to the New England Football Conference’s (NEFC) Bogan Division Second Team for his efforts.

Should he appear on the All-American team at season’s end, Chadbourne would become the Mariners 16th All-American in the program’s 64-year history. MMA is coming off of an 8-3 season that ended with an ECAC Bowl appearance.

The Mariners open the 2011 campaign against Anna Maria on Saturday, September 10.
