CBS affiliate to televise local high school football games



ELLSWORTH — Central and eastern Maine CBS affiliate WABI is planning to televise three Hancock County high school football games this season.

The first televised game can be seen on WABI affiliate The CW at 7 p.m. tomorrow, Sept. 7, when Ellsworth/Sumner faces Orono on the road. The Eagles defeated the Red Riots 41-3 in Ellsworth last year.

On Sept. 28, Bucksport will get its turn on The CW when it hosts Mattanawcook Academy at 7 p.m. The Golden Bucks beat the Lynx in three overtimes when the teams met in the regular season last year and earned a season sweep in October’s Class D North semifinal rematch with a 49-6 win.

Mount Desert Island will appear on CBS when it plays Nokomis on the road at 1 p.m. Oct. 6. MDI won 44-22 when the teams met in last year’s regular season finale.

Other games to be televised are Hermon at Maine Central Institute at 7 p.m. Sept. 21, Lawrence at Winslow at 1 p.m. Sept. 29 and the Class C North championship game at 1 p.m. Nov. 10 in Hampden.
