Ellsworth Teams Are Cross Country Winners



BLUE HILL — The Ellsworth Eagle boys and girls were winners on Friday in a four-team cross-country meet at Blue Hill.

BLUE HILL — The Ellsworth Eagle boys and girls were winners on Friday in a four-team cross-country meet at Blue Hill.

Complete results and times for the races were not available, but Ellsworth standouts Brianne Dunn and Ben Chapman were individual winners and the Eagles dominated in both races.

The Bucksport Golden Bucks, the Sumner Tigers and the host George Stevens Academy Eagles also competed.

In a regular season meet at Orono, the Mount Desert Island Trojan girls were easy winners, placing eight runners among the top 10 and finishing with 23 points.

MDI’s Mackenzie Curtis was runner-up in 20:13:63. She was followed by Dominique Hessert, third in 20:26.63; Malia Demers, fifth in 20:30.08; Jessica Swanson, sixth in 20:37.29; Kailyn Russell, seventh in 20:44.92; Frances Blank, eighth in 20:52.93; Lily Madeira, ninth in 21:08.68; and Amelia Kief, 10th in 21:52.04.

Dacie Manion of the Old Town Coyotes was the girls’ race winner in 19:22.35.

On the boys’ side, the Trojans finished second with 55 points, behind the Orono Red Riots who won with 42 points.

Scoring runners for MDI were Sam Swann, fourth in 17:41.13; Cameron Klausky, 10th in 18:33.97; Jon Sproule, 12th in 18:38.82; Peter Logue, 13th in 18:39.45; and Robbie Logue, 16th in 18:50. 86.
