Dynamic Duo Cross-country Race Slated Sunday on Bucksport Course

BUCKSPORT — A “Dynamic Duo” cross-country race will be held in Bucksport on Sunday with the proceeds going to benefit the high school Golden Buck cross-country team.

Bucksport coach Chris Jones came up with the idea for the race.

Male and female runners partner for the event, with the male completing the three-mile course, then slapping the hand of his female partner, who will run the same course again.

The entry fee is $15 per couple in advance and $18 on race day.

Winners, both overall and by age group, will be determined by adding both times. Combined age groups will be 36 and under, 37-45, 46-54, 55-63, 64-72, 73-81, 82-90, 91-99, 100-108, 109-117 and 118 and over.

The runners will compete over the high school’s 3-mile cross-country trail, with the start and finish on the football field at Carmichael Stadium.

“I am hoping this race can be a big success because it is unique to this area,” said Jones, who has competed several times with his wife Margaret in a similar race in Albany, N.Y.

.”It is a good time,” he said, “and the one we have run in is over 20 years old.”

Race day registration will begin at 7 a.m. at the football field and the race will get under way at 8.

A race application form can be on line at www.sub5.com/ calendar12/August.htm.
