Ellsworth Cheerleaders Enjoy Big Week at Camp



BANGOR — Eleven Ellsworth High School cheerleaders had a big week at the recent National Cheering Association Camp held Monday – Thursday at Husson University.

BANGOR — Eleven Ellsworth High School cheerleaders had a big week at the recent National Cheering Association Camp held Monday – Thursday at Husson University.

The girls participated in the Performance Division and came away with a host of awards, including an invitation to compete at the national level.

Participants included seniors Heather Tupper, Abby Hayden and Maria Lockart; juniors Marissa Boynton and Katy Whitney; sophomores Kat Dickens, Heather Holt and Caitlyn Ramos; and freshmen Brittani Moulton, Emily Lane and Marona Magee.

Nine of the 11 girls earned All-American nominations and five — Tupper, Moulton, Lockhart, Boynton and Whitney — were named to the All-American Team.

Recognized as Top Gun finalists in various categories were Tupper (tumbling and stunts), Lockhart (dance), and Holt, Whitney, Boynton and Hayden (stunts).

EHS Varsity Coach Cori-Lynn Noddin and junior varsity coach Bonnie Marckoon were awarded NCA certification and the squad received the NCA Spirit Stick Award, the Herkie Award (for team unity and teamwork) and Director Awards for organization, preparation, participation, spirit and behavior.

Tupper also received an invitation to become an NCA staff member.
