Mariners Hold Off Tigers

SULLIVAN — The Mariners capitalized from the foul line, netting 20 free throws en route to a 68-59 win over the Sumner Tigers on Wednesday.

The Tigers held leads of 19-14 and 32-29 for the first two periods, but the Mariners inched in front 47-45 in the third quarter and held on for the win, their sixth of the season.

Joe Carter led the way for the Mariners with 19 points, Dustin Powers had 18 and Evan Rollins chipped in with 10.

For the Tigers, Matt Dyer led all scorers with 24 points, Gabe O’Brien contributed 13 and Tommy Bell had 10.
