GSA boys cruise to wins over Bucksport, Sumner



BLUE HILL — The George Stevens Academy boys’ basketball team stretched its winning streak to 11 games with recent wins against Bucksport and Sumner.

Against Bucksport on Saturday, GSA got 29 points and 10 steals from Taylor Schildroth in a 73-39 win. The Eagles also received 13 points and 14 rebounds from senior Max Mattson, who was playing in his third straight game after recovering from a back injury.

Schildroth led GSA (11-1) once again Monday with 32 points in the first half of the Eagles’ 104-52 road win over Sumner (6-7). Mattson scored 16 for GSA, which topped the 100-point mark for the second time in as many years.

GSA’s next game is at home against Narraguagus (1-12) at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26. The Eagles then host Central (2-10) at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, and Deer Isle-Stonington (2-9) at that time Jan. 31.
