BANGOR — Ellsworth senior Trinity Montigny was announced Tuesday morning as the 2019-20 Big East Conference Player of the Year.
Montigny led the Big East in points (17.4) and assists (3.3) per game in the regular season. She added 18 points last Tuesday in Ellsworth’s Northern Maine prelim win over Mount Desert Island and 15 points Friday night in the Eagles’ Class B North quarterfinal defeat to Waterville at the Cross Insurance Center.
In Ellsworth’s Jan. 29 Senior Night showdown against Foxcroft, Montigny scored a career-high 42 points to join the team’s 1,000-point club. She finished her career as an Eagle with 1,087 points.
Montigny was joined as an All-Big East first-team selection by Hermon’s Paige Plissey and Megan Tracy, Old Town’s Hannah Richards and Presque Isle’s Faith Sjoberg. Leah Carroll of MDI was chosen to the second team.
On the boys’ side, Ellsworth brothers Jackson and Hunter Curtis were named first- and second-team selection, respectively. MDI’s Porter Isaacs was a third-team selection.
Parker Deprey of Caribou was selected as Big East Player of the Year on the boys’ side. Deprey joined Jackson Curtis, Caribou teammate Alex Bouchard, Keegan Gentle of Houlton, Cecil Gray of Washington Academy and Isaac Varney of Hermon on the All-Big East first team.
Ellsworth’s Peter Austin shared Big East Boys’ Coach of the Year honors with Caribou’s Kyle Corrigan. Presque Isle’s Jeff Hudson was Coach of the Year on the girls’ side.
