Celtics dispatch 76ers to reach Eastern Conference finals



ELLSWORTH — The Boston Celtics advanced to the Eastern Conference finals for the second season in a row Wednesday after closing out the Philadelphia 76ers in five games with a 114-112 win.

Rookie Jayson Tatum scored a team-high 25 points for Boston, and Jaylen Brown added 24. Dario Saric and Joel Embiid scored 27 apiece for the 76ers.

Boston’s conference finals opponent will be the Cleveland Cavaliers, who have won the East each of the past three seasons and swept the Toronto Raptors in the semifinals. The Celtics will have home-court advantage throughout the series.
