Cavaliers beat Celtics in Game 7 to win Eastern Conference finals



ELLSWORTH — The Cleveland Cavaliers ended the Boston Celtics’ season for the second year in a row Monday with an 87-79 win in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals in Boston.

LeBron James had 35 points, 15 rebounds and nine assists for the fourth-seeded Cavaliers. Jayson Tatum scored a team-high 24 points for Boston, which took the Cavaliers to seven games despite being without two key players, Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward.

Cleveland’s win marked the first by a road team in the series and Boston’s first home loss of the playoffs. The Cavaliers will play the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals for the fourth season in a row with Game 1 beginning at 8 p.m. Thursday, May 31.
