BAR HARBOR — The Ellsworth boys’ basketball team won both its games at Saturday’s Mount Desert Island Thanksgiving Tip-off Tournament.
The Eagles kicked off the preseason tournament with a 73-48 win over the Fryeburg Raiders.
Fryeburg led 25-20 at the end of the first quarter, but the Eagles outscored the Raiders 15-5 in the second quarter to enter halftime up 35-30. Ellsworth never let go of the lead.
Bruce St. Peter led Ellsworth with 14 points. Zach Harris notched three 3-pointers and 13 points and Bryce Harmon added 12 points.
Ellsworth notched its second win that afternoon by topping the Gardiner Tigers 47-39.
Ellsworth led 30-27 at the end of the third quarter.
In the final period, Ellsworth outscored Gardiner 17-12 to secure the win.
Cooper Henderson led the Eagles with 11 points while Bryce Harmon added nine.
Ellsworth will play its first regular season game at Foxcroft on Saturday.
