ELLSWORTH — A six-run third inning put the Golden Bucks in front to stay in a 9-5 win over the host Eagles on Thursday.

Bucksport jumped in front 1-0 in the first inning on consecutive singles by Tyler French, Tim Nason and Tyler McAllian.

Ellsworth took its only lead of the game in the bottom of the inning when Cote Card walked and scored on a double by Ross Saunders, and Andrew Hodge singled to drive in Saunders.

Ryan Bailey got things started for Bucksport in the third with a leadoff single off Ellsworth righthander John Carlin.

Cody Farrell and French followed with singles to load the bases.

Tim Nason then bounced the ball back to Carlin, whose throw to the plate went past catcher Jordan Carter, allowing Bailey to score.

Farrell came home when a fly ball to center by McAllian was misplayed, and French scored on a groundout by Evan Eldridge.

Nason crossed the plate on a single by James Potter, and McAllain and Potter both scored on Billy DeRedin’s single off the gloves of third baseman Seth Cote and shortstop Brad Folmer.

Ellsworth picked up a run in the bottom of the fifth on an RBI single by Saunders, and cut the lead to 7-5 with two more in the sixth on walks to Andrew Austin and Dakota Jewett, a single by Kyle Haslam and a two-run single by Folmer.

Bucksport capped the scoring with two runs in the top of the seventh when Bailey walked and scored on a line drive by Farrell that went off the glove of Haslam at third, and French followed with an RBI double.
