SULLIVAN — Righthander Will Ricker made his first start of the baseball season a good one as he pitched a six-inning no-hitter for the George Stevens Academy Eagles in a 6-0 win over the Sumner Tigers on Tuesday.
Ricker rang up six strikeouts, hit one batter and walked two before the game was called after six innings because of rain.
Sumner starter Justin Chipman held the Eagles scoreless for the first two innings, but GSA got on the scoreboard with an unearned run in the third.
Two innings later, the Eagles struck for two more as Anthony Bianco doubled, Gavin Rogers drove him home with another double and Ricker plated Rogers with a sacrifice fly to put GSA up 3-0.
The Eagles capped their scoring with three runs in the sixth with Harrison Vinall contributing a single and Rogers driving in two more runs with a single.
Rogers finished with three singles and a double to account for half of GSA’s eight hits.
Chipman and Alec Bisson each pitched three innings for the Tigers.
