Eagles Blank Mariners



DEER ISLE — The George Stevens Academy Eagles closed their season on a winning note Wednesday, but it was enough to boost the Eagles into a Class C playoff spot.

DEER ISLE — The George Stevens Academy Eagles closed their season on a winning note Wednesday, but it was enough to boost the Eagles into a Class C playoff spot.

Righthander Jesse Dow pitched a complete game 8-0 shutout for GSA, giving up just five hits and striking out three.

Tom Crowe slammed a two-out three-run home run in the third inning for GSA, and Ben Olivari contributed a double and a single and Josh Jones an RBI single for the Eagles, who finished in 11th place with a 5-10-1 record.

Jay Boyce, Evan Rollins and Connor Morey all contributed doubles for the Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners, who finished the regular season ranked fifth in Class D with a 9-7 record.
