Bucksport Stays on Top

ELLSWORTH — With consecutive wins over John Bapst, Hermon, Sumner and Washington Academy, the Ellsworth Eagles have played their way back into the thick of the battle for Eastern Maine Class B playoff spots.

The 8-3 Bucksport Golden Bucks have retained their hold on first place and the 9-3 Mount Desert Island Trojans are just behind them in second.

In upping their record to 10-3, the Eagles have climbed from 11th to seventh place in the tight Class B ranks.

The 8-4-1 George Stevens Academy Eagles and the 7-4 Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners also remain in the hunt for playoff spots.

The Eagles currently are ranked fourth in Class C, and the Mariners are number five in Class D.

The 3-10 Sumner Tigers slipped to 19th place in Class C after a loss to GSA on Monday.
