ELLSWORTH — Playing at the DeMeyer Field complex, Ellsworth rallied from a 4-2 deficit to edge Machias 5-4.
Nick Bagley’s two-run homer in the third inning gave Ellsworth an early 2-1 lead, but Machias scored three in the bottom of the inning to pull ahead.
Hunter Cote tied the score for Ellsworth with a two-run homer in the fifth inning.
Andrew Brown doubled and later scored what proved to be the winning run on a passed ball in the sixth for Ellsworth.
Cote pitched into the fifth inning for Ellsworth, allowing just three Machias hits, and Bagley came on in relief to strike out the four batters he faced.
Bagley also had four hits for Ellsworth in the win.
