WINSLOW — The Ellsworth High School boys’ soccer season came to a close on Saturday, Oct. 29, when the Eagles lost an incredibly close 2-1 match against the higher seeded Winslow Black Raiders.

After going 15-4-1 in the regular season and 10-3 in the region, the Eagles entered the Class B Championship tournament as a three-seed with a bye in the preliminary round. This set up a quarterfinal clash with Foxcroft Academy on Wednesday, Oct. 26. The Ponies were a team that Ellsworth beat twice in the regular season, albeit in two one-score games.
