Springers’ Gymnasts Post Several Strong Outings



BANGOR — On Sunday, the girls’ team representing the James Russell Wiggins Down East Family YMCA faced off against teams from Bangor, Damariscotta and Oxford Hills YMCAs in Bangor.

At Level 5, Hannah Chamberlain won the floor exercises for age 10, Hailey McCabe won the floor exercises for age 11 and Taylor Wright posted her second required qualifying score for the Northeast Regional Championships in May.

At Level 6, Briana Clark placed first on beam.

At Level 7, Taylor Wardwell was first on vault, beam and floor and first all-around, securing her spot at the regional championship.

She’ll be joined at the regionals by Caitlin Schroeder at Prep Optional Intermediate and Ellie Mason at Level 8.

At Level 4 for ages 6-7, Paige Sawyer was first on vault, beam and floor for first all-around.

Also at Level 4, Katherine McKee was first on bars, floor and all-around for age 8, Tess Williamson was first on vault, beam and all-around for her age group, and Anna Brown was first on vault, bars, beam and all-around for her age group.

The YMCA competition will conclude with the state championships on April 30 and May 1 in Rumford.

Eleven Springers’ gymnasts will represent the Down East Family YMCA at the regional championships on May 14 and 15 in Waterville.
